Barry has worked in the utility industry since 1995. He started out as an operational mate and went on to become a team leader, site manager and then project manager on major utility projects and contracts with values ranging from a few hundred to over 15 million pounds. Clients included Thames Water, Scotia Gas Networks and Scottish and Southern Energy Plc.

Barry co-founded Standard Investment Group Ltd in 2005 with the vision of providing a group of companies that together could provide a turn key solution to both the utility and construction industry. Working with key partners in these industries the group has developed as competent provider of civils and utility services which include LV and HV cable laying, project management and specialist plant and vehicle hire.

Management systems created by Barry are periodically audited by third parties and have been recognised to meet relevant industry standards by Achilles UVDB and Lloyds Register National Electricity Registration Scheme (NERS). The quality management system has been accredited to ISO9001:2008 and most recently he was successful with the accreditation to the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) with a Bronze award.

Barry is a member of The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and continuously promotes a safety first attitude across the business. He is relentless in his pursuit to constantly improve safety in the working environment.
